This November, sit down with two authors to discover how literature captures the dark side of Edinburgh’s history, from the past to the paranormal.

For one night only, TikTok sensation and former Mercat Storyteller, Alex Howard and Scottish Book Trust New Writers’ Award winner, Lucy Ribchester will be delving into Edinburgh’s dark and dramatic past. Join them as they discuss how the city’s history has influenced centuries of literary works – from Frankenstein and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde to Hex and Outlander.

Taking place in the atmospheric candlelit Megget’s Cellar, directly above the Blair Street Underground Vaults, visitors will also have the chance to ask Alex and Lucy questions in an exclusive Q&A, hosted by the team at Mercat Tours.

The evening concludes with a book signing and the opportunity to purchase special discounted copies of The Ghost Cat signed by Alex and/or Murder Ballad signed by Lucy. Find out more and book your tickets on Book Talk: Hauntings & Heritage in Edinburgh Literature.
