Business in Leith Shore with reflection of buildings

MORE BY THE SHORE

Visit Leith & Newhaven

A new campaign to support recovery and bring more people to explore, discover and spend locally

Following the fire at the former Debenhams building on Princes Street and the resulting disruption to travel, access and footfall, recovery funding has been made available to support affected areas and businesses.

More by the Shore is Forever Edinburgh’s new destination campaign designed to support recovery efforts by encouraging more residents and visitors to explore Leith and Newhaven, stay longer and spend locally.

The campaign will showcase the businesses, experiences and places that make the area special through a programme of seasonal activity, incentives and storytelling.

We’re inviting businesses across Leith, The Shore and Newhaven to be part of the campaign and benefit from increased promotion, new customer incentives and activity designed to encourage visits and local spend

What is More By the Shore?

Whether you’re a restaurant, café, bar, shop, attraction, beauty salon, accommodation provider or experience business, there are opportunities to get involved.

Businesses can take part in the activities that work best for them — from creating a special offer or experience, to featuring in campaign content and reaching new audiences through destination marketing.

There’s no cost to participate.

What’s happening

Activation 1: A Leith Leisure Trail

Discover the businesses, flavours and experiences that make Leith and Newhaven unique

A Leith Leisure Trail (working title) will encourage residents and visitors to explore more of the area by showcasing its incredible mix of hospitality, leisure, retail and independent businesses.

Businesses will have the opportunity to feature through:

  • The promotion of your exclusive products, dishes, drinks or experiences that customers can’t get anywhere else.
  • The promotion of special offers, discounts and incentives – 241s, value add, %off, kids eat free etc.

Whether it’s a signature dish, a unique product or an experience only available in Leith and Newhaven, the trail will create new reasons for people to discover and spend locally.

Activation 2 More by the Shore, Festive (November / December 2026)

This Christmas, we’ll showcase the best of Leith and Newhaven through festive content, offers and incentives designed to encourage more people to visit and spend locally.

Businesses can get involved by joining the More by the Shore, for Less festive voucher scheme and sharing their Christmas plans with us, helping us showcase the best places to eat, drink, shop, and explore this winter.

Your festive activity could be featured in the Forever Edinburgh festive guide, inspiring residents and visitors with ideas for things to do, places to eat, shop and explore this season.

Opportunities include:

  • Feature in our winter content series
  • Join More by the Shore, for Less voucher scheme (November/December 2026)

Activation 3 – More by the Shore, New Year (January and February 2027)

  • More by the Shore, for less New Year voucher activation (January / February 2027)
We are exploring the possibility of delivering a Resident Rewards Edinburgh voucher scheme for EH postcode holders. The customer pays half, the campaign pays half. There is no financial cost to the business to take part.
  • After5 – we’ll showcase the best of Leith and Newhaven after dark through seasonal content highlighting evening experiences, food, drink, and events. Share your winter menus, late-night activity, live music, screenings, and creative workshops to be featured in campaign content and visitor guides.

We are working to develop a B2B toolkit that will be available to businesses for their own use soon.

Final programme details are still to be confirmed, and we will share updates in due course.

Baker, hairdresser, retailer, hotelier – this is your chance to showcase the unique identity of Leith and Newhaven, their eclectic range of things to see, do and experience, and one-a-kind welcoming spirit.

Why get involved?

  • Reach new audiences – put your business in front of residents and visitors looking for things to do, eat, drink, shop and experience during the winter and festive season.
  • Drive footfall – be part of activity specifically designed to encourage people to visit and explore the area, at less cost to them.
  • Showcase what makes you different: Use a Leith exclusive, special offer or unique experience to give people another reason to choose you, and a time sensitive incentive to that now.
  • Get free promotion: Participating businesses will benefit from campaign content, digital promotion, social media, and wider marketing activity. We will run a visible campaign across the city to promote More by the Shore, featuring businesses taking part.
