This June, one of Catalonia’s cultural traditions comes to the heart of Edinburgh as the Colla Castellera d’Edinburgh welcome special guests, the Castellers de Sarrià from Barcelona.

Human towers, known as castells, are a breath-taking display of teamwork, courage and trust, where dozens of people work together to build towering structures several levels high. Recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, this free event offers a rare opportunity to experience a living tradition that has captivated audiences for generations.

The afternoon begins at 3.30pm with a parade through Princes Street Gardens (from Waverley Bridge entrance), accompanied by traditional Catalan music, before both groups gather at The Mound Precinct for a public demonstration at 4pm.
