Founded in 1965 by Oscar and BAFTA-winning costume designer John Bright, Cosprop specialises in period costume for film, television and theatre. His eye for detail is in thousands of film, television and stage productions through his work as a costume designer, a costumier, maker, advisor, collector and historian.

This exhibition is a celebration of six decades of creativity across film, television and theatre, presenting an unrivalled opportunity to go behind the scenes of one of the most celebrated costume houses in the world. Exhibiting some never seen before garments, the exhibition traces the full journey from script to screen with original costumes on display alongside design drawings, research material, mood boards, swatches and archive photography.

Visitors will be able to see iconic and beautifully crafted period outfits from films such as A Room with a View, Pirates of the Caribbean, Pride and Prejudice and Mrs Harris Goes to Paris, as well as costumes from television classics from Agatha Christie’s Poirot to Downtown Abbey and Peaky Blinders.

A number of related events will also be running in conjunction with the exhibition.

Costume Couture: Sixty Years of Cosprop can be seen at Dovecot Studios from 18 July 2026 to 16 January 2027.
