Dating back to 1907, Leith Festival is one of Edinburgh’s oldest festivals. Today, this much-loved local festival remains largely unchanged with a bumper programme of activities for all the family.
Festivities kick off with Gala Day on Leith Links. Browse and buy from a variety of stalls, while enjoying music, performance, dance, storytelling and more. The pageant celebrates the community spirit of Leith, with a mixture of school, youth and community groups entertaining crowds, while the climax of the week is the tattoo, when the sound of pipes and drums fill the air.
Throughout the week they’ll be a host of events to delight, entertain and educate, all of which are organised by local groups and businesses. Enjoy everything from music and drama to tours and taster sessions.
