Screening over 60 short films across 8 short film programmes at Filmhouse, Edinburgh Cinema and Video Society, and The Barnton Bunker, 2026 marks the festival’s third full edition.

Two internationally acclaimed features make their Scottish premieres as part of this year’s festival: the Thai supernatural comedy A Useful Ghost (02 May) and the Latvian animated folk comedy horror Dog of God (03 May). All of this, as well as the finest genre short films, from domestic talent all the way to the far corners of Asia and the Americas, between live-action and animation.

Audiences can also step into the future at the Edinburgh Cinema and Video Society with an interactive VR experience, or even descend into the past and go monster hunting at a former nuclear site to watch some scary and silly monstrous short films. Or step into a fever dream with a David Lynch themed party at The Wee Red Bar.
