Andy Warhol: The Textiles is the first exhibition in Scotland exclusively dedicated to the legendary pop artist and icon Andy Warhol.
Offering a rare opportunity to see these works, visitors will be able to see more than 60 textile works, featuring fabric lengths, garments, prints, film and photography. Together these pieces demonstrate how textile and fashion design were a crucial element to Warhol’s success as one of the most iconic artists of the last century.
Known for his talent of turning the ordinary into the extraordinary, coupled with his love of repetition, expect to see textiles full of playful designs – from lemons and ice cream sundaes to toffee apples and pretzels.
One of the most imaginative projects on display will be his designs for the famous New York café, Serendipity3, which Warhol frequently visited. In homage to these designs, Dovecot’s Studios own café will be redesigned to reflect these colourful food-inspired images.
Alongside the exhibition, which runs from 26 January to 18 May 2024, Dovecot Studios will also be hosting a range of events inspired by Warhol’s illustrations and designs, from food events and fashion shows to textile printing workshops.
