Welcoming audiences back to see one of the strongest and most varied short film programmes anywhere, Edinburgh Short Film Festival will be screening award-winning shorts from Tokyo and Locarno, as well as nominees from Cannes, Venice and the Berlinale alongside Scottish and Edinburgh-made films and films from across the UK.
They’ll be guest programmes from International Film Festivals including Vilnius, Amsterdam, Belgium, Adriatic and Budapest, networking events, Q and As and panel discussions. Plus, a masterclass by Jan Harlan, on Kubrick’s film insights and on filmmaking, for young and up-and-coming filmmakers.

All screenings take place at the Filmhouse on Lothian Road. The Filmhouse is fully accessible including disabled toilets, lifts and subtitled films. Several of Lothian Buses services stop outside the main entrance. If travelling with Edinburgh Trams, the closest stops are the West End and Princes Street.
The Edinburgh Short Film Festival runs from 07 to 16 November 2025.
