Just in time for the October holidays, Dalkeith Country Park are offering thrill-seekers of all ages a host of eerie events.

Embark on a thrilling adventure at the Curiously Creepy Pumpkin Patch. Choose your ideal pumpkin, savour marshmallows by the fire pits, and, if you’re brave enough, venture into the undercroft of The Orangerie.

A family at the booth of the Pumpkin Patch at Dalkeith Country park talking to members of staff.

Prisoners of The Palace invite you to descend the spine-chilling depths of Dalkeith Palace and unearth sinister secrets on a haunted tour through the ominous basement. Make your way along the spooky corridors but be warned – you may meet a few creepy characters! This experience is not for the faint-hearted or anyone under 14 years.

Create delicious treats at Kids’ Cookie Decorating Workshops, or paint ceramic pumpkins and make a variety of ghostly decorations at Kids’ Craft Workshops. And don’t miss the chance to take part in the Halloween Scavenger Hunt at Fort Douglas. Explore the adventure playground to discover hidden letters that reveal a secret word.

Dalkeith Country Park is around 30 minutes commute from the centre of Edinburgh. Lothian Buses’ services 3, 33 or 49 run a regular service to Dalkeith High Street. It is then a 5 to 10 minute walk to the park.
