Taking place at St Bride’s Centre in Dalry, Scottish Jazz Weekend presents a series of events for jazz lovers of all ages.
The Ewan Hastie Trio make a much-anticipated debut, while trumpeter Colin Steele returns with a homage to Joni Mitchell. Internationally renowned saxophonist and composer, Paul Towndrow will take to the stage with stars of the future, Finlay Mackenzie, Douglas Wright and William Ewins. The Norman Willmore Sextet present contemporary Scandinavian jazz which takes its inspiration from the Shetland landscape, while saxophonist Steve Kettley and his talented ensemble play a tribute to one of the founding fathers of spiritual jazz, Pharoah Sanders.
How about a world premiere! Ready Player 7 play a mix of jazz, funk, latin and rock, delighting the audience with well-known themes from the likes of Super Mario and Legend of Zelda.
For younger jazz fans, Sound Explorers is a fun interactive workshop suitable for children aged 5 to 9. For a chance to get involved in all the action don’t miss the Tenement Jazz Band’s Cabinet of Musical Delights, where dancing, drumming and singing is encouraged! Suitable for ages 5+
