To mark the 30th birthday of Dolly – the first cloned mammal ever to be created from an adult cell – this event takes a closer look at her scientific innovation, historic significance and continuing cultural impact.

The talk is led by Hassun El-Zafar, Director of Edinburgh Science, with panellist experts from the Roslin Institute, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Cambridge, and National Museums Scotland. The discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A.

Suitable for those aged 16+ years old, the event takes place in the museum’s auditorium on level 1. Entry to this event is via the rear entrance to the museum on Lothian Street from 6pm.

Dolly at 30: The Life and Legacy of a Cloned Sheep is on 16 July 2026. It is free to attend, but advance online booking is required.
