This immersive experience uncovers the practices of Dr Arnott, one of the Close’s wealthiest and most intriguing former residents.
A trained physician with a taste for the unconventional, Dr Arnott diagnosed his patients by examining their urine for colour, smell… and even taste. Now, it’s your turn to step into his shoes.
Begin with a 1-hour guided tour through Edinburgh’s hidden underground streets, before joining a hands-on 30 minute workshop where you’ll put your senses to the test. Analyse samples, follow Dr Arnott’s methods, and create your own herbal remedy in this interactive and entertaining experience.
This tour is suitable for 5 years+. Audio guides are available for the guided tour in multiple languages; however, the workshop element is delivered in English only and does not include audio guide support.
Due to the historic nature of the site, the underground streets feature uneven surfaces, low lighting, and multiple steps throughout. Unfortunately, step-free access is not available, and the experience is not suitable for wheelchair users.
